Love Yourself First

As I’m sitting here on this #workoutwednesday, I have to be honest with you all. I did not work out. After working on a FB Live event off and on for almost 12 hrs, there was no energy left up to do anything but move my little fingers across the keyboard. And that’s even a hard task after typing on a phone and computer all day! I splurged and ate a bunch of mac and cheese and left-over holiday candy when I got home. Even though I should be freaking out (I have a wedding to get ready for!), I’m not.
It’s after the holiday seasons. Chances are there’s a lot of you who think you are suffering from Holiday Weight. You probably don’t need to. But we as humans like to guilt ourselves about things like this. So many times, I’ve heard that tired old resolution “I’m going to work out more.” I’ve even used it myself. But now, I am telling you don’t make that resolution. Instead, promise to love yourself first.
I just want to remind it’s OKAY if you splurge and eat what you really want or are craving. Deprivation never got anyone anywhere but into a bounce back of binging. Indulging in something once, probably isn’t going to make or break your diet (unless you’re on keto or something!). The key to weight loss, isn’t about losing the weight as much as it is making healthy changes to your lifestyle. You aren’t too fond of soda? Swap it out for water and see the changes in your body! If you focus the positive, the results you are looking for will follow.
Now, I probably just sound like a lazy, indulgent slacker. But, I swear I’m not! I do believe in taking care of yourself and listening to your body and what it wants and needs though. If your body needs sleep instead of exercise. Listen to it. That’s what I am doing tonight. And tomorrow, I will go a little harder in my workout. But I am not going to beat myself up over, mentally or physically. The guilt trip that we all lay on ourselves has got to stop. A wise woman once told me to treat myself like I was my best friend. And that stuck. Thanks Mom for that good piece of advice.
My advice: Love Yourself First
